This project is my first conscious interpretation of my reflection.
The impulse to create the work was a change in my perception of goals, which later also affected my approach to any processes.
Since the age of 7, I have continuously viewed the world through the prism of plans, tasks, goals, etc., chasing the point of maximum in whatever I do.
However, no matter how much effort I put in, most of the time it turned out that my initial formulation of the goal already left me with no chance of achieving it. The reason for this turned out to be quite obvious - an abundance of details. I have the opportunity to play with probability theory based on my experience with other processes, but even if I have done what I want to do a thousand times in the past, it still does not guarantee that my plan will not be disturbed by the processes of the outside world or my own psyche.
Missing this had a profound effect on my perception of myself, which eventually led to a more appropriate way of thinking about this topic:
1. I cannot guarantee a result. The only thing available to me is to make efforts to achieve it. The reason for this is the same: there are many processes in the world that are beyond my control. This leads to the fact that the result may come after some time or may not happen at all. Therefore, a goal is a formulation of efforts aimed at a desired result.
2. When setting a goal, I can choose only one criteria by which I will determine whether or not it is achieved:
- Quality. The process will take as long as it takes until the desired form is achieved
- Deadline. There is a specific date by which I make efforts, the result is allowed of the quality reached in that interval
- Regularity. There are N hours allocated to the goal in a selected repetitive time period
The more parameters are specified for a goal, the higher the inadequate risk - the goal is more likely to fail due to future uncertainty.
3. A detailed plan is a fiction. The desired outcome can only be achieved through a process, and this in turn consists of cycles, which are sets of iterations. An iteration is an action taken based on the result obtained from a previous iteration. But since, being now in the present moment, I do not know the future to the minute, the maximum I can do is to determine the first action. However, this condition does not prohibit me from predicting, as this can lead to the most profitable first step (but it is important to keep in mind that the scenario can change as many times as I like during the process itself)
